Im Gegensatz zu Pixie- Röhren besitzen Nomotrons auf der kreisrunden Anzeigeseite eingravierte Ziffern von 0...9. Daneben sind Löcher ausgestanzt, die unmittelbar über der entsprechenden Kathode liegen. Ist die Kathode aktiv, so ist ihr Leuchten durch das jeweilige Loch hindurch sichtbar. Nomotrons typically have the digits engraved into the dial, adjacent to an indicator hole located directly over the corresponding cathode. Pixie tubes all have number-shaped holes over the cathodes. Most importantly though, nomotrons are a type of dekatron, while pixies are a type of nixie tube. Nomotrons are not directly related to pixie tubes. They are basically a normal dekatron counting tube with a numerical 'dial' over the indicator cathodes (and covering up the guide cathodes) for ease of readability. Pixie tubes perform no counting function, they function like a nixie tube - display only. |
